They are thick enough so you don't have to worry about wearing anything underneath (go commando!). Amazon has them at half the price of any retail brick and mortar. Just add water and enjoy! :)

These shorts are made of some kind of magical fabric. They are soft and non-plasticky. The fly is not really a fly, so you kind of need to pull them down when you "go in the clubhouse." The lace up closure is nice, with a lace that doesn't immediately come untied.
But man, that fabric... it's sort of thick, but it's not. Fortunately it's not see-through when wet.
They came with a wax comb and leash allen wrench in the side pocket.
All in all, by far my favorite swim shorts ever.

They have been washed quite a few times and even though they are black, have had minimal fading. One criticism is that they are a little short - wish they were about 2 inches longer.

Coolibar UPF 50+ Men's Colorblock Board Short - Sun Protection Review

(More customer reviews)ive been looking for a bathing suit for my fiance for our honeymoon to jamaica and found these on Amazon. He's very picky with clothing, esp swimwear. He's a Nautica guy but doesnt like the fit of Nauticas swimsuits. I found these online and ordered them for him in royal. He was very excited that I found them, however, neither of us realized that Coolibar (the brand) is for middleaged people. We're both 22 and very picky with what we wear. This suit is wonderful! He loves how soft they are and that they come with the mesh inside. I mentioned to him that the suit is SPF 50, something that I didnt know clothing could have, and he was very impressed. The material isnt harsh either, like some cheaper suits are. These are very soft, feels like cotton.
Other things about it:
-my fiance is 6'1" and the suit comes down to his knees
-Hes a size 42/44 so I ordered him an XL. They were a bit roomy on him. I'd say Xl is good for guys 40-46, depending how loose/tight you like. A large would fit up to size 42 jeans; he would have liked a L.
-they dry super fast!
-looks great as shorts if youre the kind of guy that likes to walk around with a t-shirt & swim trunks at the amusment park or boardwalk. these dont scream "swim suit".
-2 side pockets, and 1 back pocket
-makes your butt & hips look smaller/more trim
-Some guys dont like the buldge in front, but these hide it.

Fortunately, these are the best fitting (and smallest) board shorts I could find. They are very comfortable, and very lifeguard-bright-red. Pick these ones up, they're true to their size and the material is great quality.

I don't normally buy clothes on line but just needed something not currently in stores. The quality was average but they lacked a liner so wearing them wasn't comfortable. They also weren't roomy enough and I bought a size larger than I usually wear for insurance. anyway I made do. But I wouldn't recomend them.

Ok, Columbia did it again, this short is in the fishing line of products.
I picked up this short and thought it looked different after looking closer it is a big glass of beer.
Comes with a surf style pocket that has a cord to a can opener and line cutter.(makes sense)
PROS: Biggest surprise this short is long enough to be a super comfortable summer boat short more of a surf length , they also have a few other great prints, some with scales and fish colors.
The Fit is excellent. In the past the Columbia swimwear was big elastic waist short shorts!
CONS: Someone will end up wearing this with the matching top. PLEASE DONT!
